A public talk will be given by Geshe Michael Roach. There will be two 2-hour sessions, from 2.30 to 4.30pm and 5.30 to 7.30pm. This will be an excellent opportunity to receive a commentary of this much beloved and often recited sutra in English. Admission is free. All are welcome.

Biography of speaker. Geshe Michael Roach is quite a remarkable individual. He is American, an honors graduate from Princeton University, who subsequently became a fully ordained Buddhist monk in the Tibetan Gelugpa tradition. He then went through the traditional Geshe course at Sera-Mey Monastic University in south India. He completed his studies after 14 years and was the first Westerner to be awarded the Geshe title since the monastery was founded in 1419.

He was also a founder of Andin International Diamond Corporation in 1981. When he left the position of Vice President after 16 years, this diamond-trading company based in New York had an annual sales figure of US$125million and 500 employees in offices around the world.

Geshe Roach is fluent and translated Tibetan, Russian and English. He has taught thousands of students around the world. A few Singaporeans attended his teachings on the Diamond-cutter Sutra in Bodhgaya (mistakenly translated in Chinese as the Diamond Sutra), and greatly benefitted from the course. He is an excellent teacher, able to give perspectives of the Dharma and its practical application in daily and working life.
