Popularly addressed as Bhante Suvanno, Bhante is the abbot of Lunas Buddhist Hermitage, which is a Vipassana Meditation Retreat. Bhante embraces the Theravada Buddhist tradition and teaches only the Mahasi Sayadaw method of meditation in the Hermitage. He is a religious adviser to many Meditation Centres in Malaysia. He is well sought after for his Dhamma talks which are delivered either in Hokkien or English.

The Lunas Buddhist Hermitage was built by his devout followers, friends and ex-patients who has benefit from his Dhamma and religious guidance. He is very compassionate and very well like by those around him.

Bhante started meditation at the age of 12. During his teenage days, numerous requests by him to be ordained as a monk were refused as he was unable to obtain parental consent. His dream to be a monk was finally realised at the age of 60, leaving behind his wife and three daughters.
