    Talk Synopses
“The Buddha’s Way – Transcending the human predicament with Happiness”
Buddhism stresses the inherent unsatisfactoriness (duḥkha) of sentient existence, so much so that it is often misconstrued as being pessimistic in outlook. However, this emphasis must be understood as a statement of the Buddha’s insight (Enlightenment) into the true nature of Reality. The whole of the Buddha’s teaching is in fact centred around the “taste of emancipation” from this human predicament. He teaches that while we should not, and cannot, escape from the nature of Reality, this existential predicament can most certainly be transcended.

This talk explains that the Buddha’s path of transcendence is one of progressive joyfulness –– the more insight we develop on this path, the more joyful we become. Truth attained is Happiness Supreme (nibbānaṃ paramaṃ sukkhaṃ): The True, the Good and the Beautiful are ultimately one.

Click here to register for the talk.

[Celebrate Lunar New Year & Losar

This February will bring double joy, as we celebrate both Lunar New Year and Losar, the Tibetan New Year, over the same period.

The first 15 days of Losar commemorate the 15 Days of Miracles that the Buddha displayed in ancient Sravasti, in response to a challenge from those who were sceptical of his attainments. Through witnessing the Buddha's feats, many beings gained faith in the teachings and attained liberation.

According to the Vinaya text, "Treasure of Quotations and Logic", all virtues done throughout these special days are multiplied 100 million times. We warmly invite you to participate in a series of special and regular events and make light offering at ABC to celebrate Losar and accumulate vast merit!

    𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴
Offer a light during this period and dedicate by name for the light of wisdom to shine on you and all sentient beings. For the first time, the Centre is making available a limited quantity of electric lotus hanging lamps for offering over the entire New Year period (9-24 Feb) at $60 per lamp. This is in addition to LED butter lamps that can be offered over two periods of three days (9-11 Feb, 22-24 Feb) at $15 per lamp. Sponsorship can be made online (please click on the link in the comments section below ) or at ABC’s office, and closes 4 days before the start date of each offering period or when fully sponsored.
